How effective is the combination of your main and ancillary texts?

Creating house style and theme between all sections of my A2 music product was incredibly important in keeping a professional and adhering to an audience's expectation of how visuals and other features should be arranged to ensure an effective brand had been created.

Creating a link between all sections of my work was important not just because of the mark scheme but to ensure that all sections conventionally feel as though they are connected as they would be realistically. This is most conventionally done through continuity in imagery and fonts. An example of this in my work would be the images on my front and back cover of my digipak. These images are taken directly from a screenshot from the opening scene of my music video to ensure they have a level of continuity that the viewer will be able to recognise. This level of continuity is also shown on my website home page by including a collage of pictures comprised both of screenshots and pictures taken during filming by doing this and having the rest of my site is mostly black and white allows the colour theme of autumn colours and greys to be present throughout all sections of my work.

A lot of my work shared very similar features, to show this I have created a Venn diagram to help easily showcase where these products cross.

This Venn diagram gives a visual representation of where the features of my products overlap, the majority of these overlapping features are between the website and the digipak. This is probably because of the static medium they are being present as gives more chance for overlapping in features compared to the music video where only main features like fonts and characters would overlap.

Typography

An aim of the continuity between my products was to ensure a large part of the product (the typography) creates a large part of the packs aesthetic and recognisability. To do this I used the font 'Amethyst' in white with a black background. However, this convention was only observed in the creation of my digipak and my website homepage. If I were to change anything to improve the combination of my texts it would be changing the text in the music video to better resemble to the rest of my ancillary texts.

Company Logos

Like the typography, a company logo could really improve the continuity and could be worked into the music video at some point as lots of modern videos do at the beginning of song/music videos to give more brand awareness and allow listeners to know who is producing the music they are listening to.

Overall

Overall, there are ways in which my work could be better integrated with each other to create a stronger link in the combination of my texts. But, my work is still effective at creating clear links between the work using colours and screenshots distributed throughout my work.
